The Hardtail Saddle Bag is made out of ultra thick 12 ounce cowhide. This saddle bag attaches to your bike with super high tensile strength zip ties. It will fit most Harley softail models, "as long as there are no obstructions on the left side". Because of the special way that the front and back are sewn together as one piece it is far less likely that it will ever lose it's shape. Some bags are made with reinforcements to bolster up their thin leather. This leather is so thick that it does not need any reinforcement. Most Harley made bags are made of cheap vinyl.

The Rich Phillips Hardtail Bag is sealed with a beeswax based waterproofer, "Aussie Leather Conditioner". It is used to bring out the richness in the grain and color.
